MTS - Analysing Waiting Times
Welcome
This website is about the annual work developed by Class 8 for the disciplines of Introduction to Medicine I and Introduction to Medicine II, entitled the “MTS – Analysing Waiting Times”, during the first year in Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto, Portugal.
The Manchester Triage System (MTS) is an extremely useful tool in Urgency Services (US) as it allows increasing the efficiency in patients' care. Patients are subjected to a triage made by a nurse who attributes them different colours depending on the emergency of their need. MTS is essential to identify the patients who need immediate attention and those who can safely wait for a longer time.
Our work is to analyze waiting times at a hospital’s emergency service where Manchester Triage System is applied, its management, efficacy and correspondence to the theory.
We would like to thank Professor Altamiro da Costa Pereira, Regent of Introduction to Medicine I and Introduction to Medicine II, who gave us the opportunity to do such a challenging work and Professor Cristina Santos, who helped us improving our work.
We hope you enjoy it.
